Phnom Penh (VNA) – Malaysian Malindo Air’s maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh International Airport landed on December 1, beginning the carrier’s daily flights to Cambodia.

The new route is operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The flight leaves Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 8 am and arrives at Cambodia at 8:55 am (local time). The return leg departs from the Cambodian airport at 9:45 am and lands at KLIA at 12:35pm (local time).

According to Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Dato Sri Hasan Malek, the new route will bolster tourism, trade and investment between the two countries.

Three Malaysian airlines are offering services to Cambodia, namely Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia and Malindo.

As Cambodia hopes to welcome 7-8 million foreign tourists by 2020, the government is investing in transport infrastructure and encouraging foreign airlines to open direct flights to the country.-VNA
