The call was made at recenttalks between Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung and leadersof Marseille in Bouche de Rhone province, 800 kilometers south of thecapital Paris .

During their talks, the Marseilleofficials welcomed more cooperation with Vietnam in general andsome localities in particular. They said that the city’s authoritieswill create the best possible conditions for Vietnamese expatriates inMarseille and Bouche de Rhone.

Major of MarseilleJean-Claude Gaudin suggested organising a Vietnam Week in Marseille in2013, when it becomes European Capital of Culture.

Ambassador Dung mentioned some of the activities to be held in Marseilleat the end of this year and in 2013 to boost friendship and cooperationbetween Vietnam and France in general and Marseille inparticular.

The ambassador underlined Vietnam’spriorities in relation with France as both countries gear up for their40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties and upgrade their bilateralrelationship to a strategic partnership.-VNA

Quang Ngai to remove hundreds of unregistered fishing vessels

To date, Quang Ngai has 5,194 registered fishing vessels, with data regularly updated in the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase). The provincial licensing rate for fishing activities has reached 81.94%, while 99% of local vessels required to install vessel monitoring systems (VMS) have complied.

A total of 351 communes free of temporary, dilapidated houses

From February 21-28, 7,540 temporary and dilapidated houses were renovated or replaced nationwide, bringing the total number of facilities improved under humanitarian policy to 115,481. Of these, 62,737 houses were inaugurated, while construction began on another 52,744.

Tay Ninh strives to eliminate temporary houses by Q2

Vietnam set to host Vesak 2025 with thorough preparations

The United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations 2025 will take place from May 6-8 in Ho Chi Minh City under the theme “Unity and Inclusivity for Human Dignity: Buddhist Insights for World Peace and Sustainable Development.” The event is expected to welcome around 2,000 delegates from Vietnam and abroad.
