The People’s Committee of central Thanh Hoa province on May 25 held a burial service for the remains of 59 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists who fell down in Laos battlefields in the past.
The remains, gathered by the province’s search team from October 2012 to May 2013 in the two villages of Viengxay district, Laos’ Houaphan province, were buried at Ba Thuoc district’s martyr cemetery.
Earlier, the provincial Buddhist Sangha held a memorial service for the martyrs on May 22.
Thanh Hoa province’s Military High Command has cooperated with Laos to search for and gather the Vietnamese martyrs’ remains in the country since 1998.
Ealier this month, the three provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Ha Tinh and Dien Bien have also received back the remains of 71 Vietnamese soldiers and specialists who were killed during wartime in Laos.-VNA
