HCM City (VNA) – A collective wedding for 100 couples who are disadvantaged workers in Ho Chi Minh City was held by the municipal youth union on September 2.
The wedding, the 10th of its kind so far, was an annual activity on the occasion of the National Day (September 2).
Nguyen Thi Le, Chairwoman of the municipal Party Committee’s mass mobilisation board, said the mass wedding was a practical solution to care for the spiritual life of young workers. It aimed to be a start of the couples’ happy family life and encourage them to make better efforts in their work and life, thus contributing to the city’s development.
She also asked the municipal youth union committee to maintain the programme and devise more activities to care for young workers.
According to organisers, the mass wedding programme has been held for 722 couples at total cost of nearly 20 billion VND (880,000 USD) over the last 10 years.-VNA
