A meeting to mark the 100 th anniversary of the birth of former President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Il Sung, (1912-2012) was held in Hanoi on Feb. 22.

Addressing the event, President of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association Pham Tat Dong and DPRK Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Chang In reviewed the relationship and traditional cooperation between Vietnam and the DPRK, which was founded and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung.

They said President Kim Il Sung was a great leader of DPRK, a famous activist in the communist and international worker movement and a dear friend of the Vietnamese people, stressing that the President’s revolutionary career connected closely with enduring and heroic struggles of the DPRK.

They affirmed that Vietnam-DPRK relations will continue to be further strengthened to contribute to bringing independence, freedom and happiness to the two peoples.

On the occasion, Pham Tat Dong expressed his gratitude for the precious support of DPRK’s Party, state and people to Vietnam during the struggle to reunify the country and build socialism.

He said Vietnam is willing to support DPRK’s national construction cause.-VNA
