A cross-border bicycle race named “Mekong Tour 2009” will be held from October 11-25 with the participation of host Vietnam and other regional countries.
The race, organised by the World and Vietnam newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Motor and Bicycle Sport Federation, aims to raise people’s awareness of protecting Mekong River’s water resources.
Seven men teams of the host Vietnam and other teams from China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar will compete with each other along the route: Hanoi – Nghe An – Khon Khen (Thailand) – Savanakhet (Laos) – Quang Tri – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City – Tay Ninh – Phnom Penh (Cambodia) – Can Tho./.
