Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has sent a message of thanks to United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon after leaving New York for Hanoi.
The Vietnamese party leader met with Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York during his official visit to the US from July 6-10.
Expressing his satisfaction with the outcomes of visit to the UN headquarters and meeting with the Secretary General in particular, the Party chief said he believes that Vietnam’s active and responsible involvement in the UN activities as well as the body’s support to Vietnam in its socio-economic development and realisation of the Millennium Development Goals and Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals would contribute to peace, security and development in the region and the world.
He wished that the UN will further develop and rally common efforts of the international community for the sake of the world and humanity.
