Hundreds of Mexican businesses flocked to a seminar on business and investment opportunities in Vietnam , which was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico and Mexico City Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco).
Opening the event, Canaco President Ricardo Navarro Benitez hailed Vietnam ’s high economic growth rate, saying that the Southeast Asian country offers a chance for Mexico to diversify trade relations, and seek new markets for Mexican products in the context of current global economic crisis impacting on the country’s economy.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Thanh Tung said two-way trade between Vietnam and Mexico , which hit 1.2 billion USD in 2012, is still modest compared to Vietnam ’s total foreign trade turnover of 230 billion USD.
He affirmed that Vietnam will create the most favourable conditions including legal framework for the two sides’ enterprises to cooperate for the sake of mutual interest.
Mexican business representatives inquired about Vietnam ’s export items, customs procedures, demands for Mexican products such as Tequila and foods.-VNA
