Micronesian Congress Speaker to visit Vietnam

A high-ranking delegation of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia led by Speaker Wesley W. Simina and his spouse will pay an official visit to Vietnam from June 5-15.

Hanoi (VNA) - A high-ranking delegation of the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia led by Wesley W. Simina and his spouse will pay an official visit to Vietnamfrom June 5-15.

Thevisit will be made at the invitation of Chairwoman of the National Assembly(NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the NA’s Committee for External Affairs announced onJune 4.

Vietnam and Micronesia officially set updiplomatic ties on September 22, 1995. Speaker of theMicronesian Congress Isaac V. Figir paid an official visit to Vietnam inJanuary 2008.

Micronesia donated 25,000 USD to Vietnam toaddress consequences caused by typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Meanwhile, Vietnam alsosent 50,000 USD as relief aid to Micronesia in 2015 when storm Maysak sweptthrough Micronesia.-VNA
