Hanoi (VNA) - Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha has asked relevant units to determine the reason for mass fish deaths in central coastal provinces from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien-Hue.

Accordingly, experts from the ministry will identify the causes and then provide information on the incident for media.

The ministry’s Administration of Seas and Islands has sent officials to the affected localities, namely Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces, to study the incident while the Vietnam Environment Administration under the ministry sent a working group the these localities to take water samples.

A few days ago, residents in coastal areas in the four central provinces from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien-Hue reported an unusual number of dying or dead fish near the shore.

Residents living near Lang Co Beach in Thua Thien – Hue province each day caught around 10 kilograms of batoids, which were close to death.-VNA

Storm brings heavy rains to northern Vietnam
