Ministry talks opportunities with Japanese firms

The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) organised a talk in Hanoi on July 8 with businesses from Aichi prefecture, one of the largest economic and industrial centres in Japan’s central region.

Representing the participants, who are currently investing in Vietnam , Masanori, Executive Director for Aichi Prefecture ’s Investment and Tourism Department, said investors from his locality have a belief on Vietnam ’s development prospect in the post-crisis period.

Following their successes made in Vietnam in the recent time, Aichi investors feel secure about their investments in Vietnam in the coming time, the Aichi official said.

Do Nhat Hoang, Head of the MPI’s Foreign Investment Department said he expected Aichi businesses will discuss with Vietnamese representatives measures to improve investment environment in Vietnam.

About 70 Aichi investors, with the world’s leading names as Toyota , Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawaii, are investing in Vietnam .

Japan currently ranks third among countries and territories having direct investment in Vietnam with 1,171 projects capitalizing at 18.6 billion USD.

In the first half of this year, Japanese businesses registered a combined investment of 1.22 billion USD, which accounted for 14.5 percent of foreign investment in Vietnam./.
