Many condolences over the death of General Vo Nguyen Giap have continued to be sent to Vietnam and his family, describing the death as a great loss to the Vietnamese nation.
On October 7, the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, National Assembly and Government, the Lao National Construction Front and the Central Defence-Security Committee, extended a message of condolence to the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), National Assembly, Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the CPVCC’s Military Commission.
The message highlighted General Vo Nguyen Giap’s great contributions to the revolution over the 80 years of his revolutionary activities for national liberation, and as well as to building and fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
“Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap is Vietnam’s first general and supreme Commander of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army. He is esteemed and respected by the Vietnamese people and international friends for his sound leadership in the fights against invaders, winning complete independence for the Vietnamese people,” the message said.
In the message, the Lao side described the death of General Giap as a great loss to the Party, State, Army and people of Vietnam, noting that it is a loss of a dear, great friend to the Party, State and people of Laos.
In his message on October 6 to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Party Central Committee, Chea Sim, President of the Cambodia’s People Party and President of the Senate, extended the Cambodian Party and people’s deep condolences to the Party and people of Vietnam and General Giap’s family.
He praised the contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap, a leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in the fight against colonialism and imperialism, for national independence and Vietnam’s building process advancing to socialism.-VNA
