More condolences over Giap’s passing pour in

Numerous social organisations worldwide have extended their sympathy over the recent passing of legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap, known as the “Eldest Brother” of the Vietnamese People’s Army.

The Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, in its message, said: “We deeply regret the passing of General Giap, an eminent military strategist and illustrious general during the war against French and US invaders. General Giap is a national hero of the Vietnamese revolution and the entire progressive mankind. He is a boundless inspiration to the fight for national independence.”

“We will never forget his bright friendship to the Cuban revolution and our leader Fidel Castro,” it said.

On behalf of the Palestine–Vietnam Friendship Association, its Chairman Salef Rafat, who is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, expressed his deepest condolences to the Vietnam Committee on Solidarity with Palestinian People, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Vietnamese Communist Party and people.

He said General Giap was a leader of the Vietnamese nation and a soldier fighting for world freedom. He played an important role in leading Vietnam out of French and US colonialism to national reunification.

His fighting cause will be forever a symbol for all in pursuit of world freedom, national liberation from colonialism and independence. The Palestinian people are proud of his career and honour him with respect and gratitude, he further said.

Meanwhile, Chairwoman of the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship Association Men Sam An wrote: “I was deeply saddened upon hearing that General Giap passed away on October 4 at the age of 103.”

We will never forget General Giap, a great Vietnamese hero who led the Vietnamese People’s Army to victory during the resistance war against France and the US, ushering in a new era in the fight against colonialism for the sake of national liberation, independence and reunification.

Though the General passed away, his vivid example of heroism, patriotism and bravery will remain forever. His death is a significant loss to the Vietnamese people.

Via the Bolivia Venezuela Embassy in Vietnam, the Venezuela–Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity House expressed its condolences and said that his feats will be forever in the hearts of revolutionists worldwide.-VNA
