Polituro member, Secretary of the the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Organisation To Huy Rua presented gifts to beneficiary and poor households in Que Vo district, northern Bac Ninh province, on February 5 in the lead up to the Lunar New Year.
The recipients include heroic Vietnamese mother Lai Thi Ngo and two disadvantaged families, who were encouraged to overcome challenges and contribute to society.
Rua asked the local authorities to pay attention to beneficiary and needy households, as well as people that have rendered services to the country, so they can enjoy a warm New Year festival.
The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam offered gifts, each worth 500,000 VND (24 USD), to 2,400 locals, and donated 5 billion VND (240,000 USD) for welfare buildings in the locality.
Also on February 5, the Central Highlands Steering Committee presented gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, to 100 poor households in Dak G’ Long district in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong.
Earlier on February 4, the Southeastern Fertiliser, Chemicals, Oil and Gas Company donated New Year gifts to 300 poor households and Agent Orange (AO) victims in Dak Glong and Dak Song districts through the Dak Nong provincial Red Cross Society.
The district AO Victims’ Association partnered with a Viettel branch to offer gifts to 120 families of AO victims in Nghia Trung and Nghia Thanh precincts, and Gia Nghia township.
Domestic and foreign businesses, individuals and organisations also handed presents to over 4,000 underprivileged people and families of AO victims in the locality.-VNA
