Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

-  Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao and Cambodian counterparts Phankham Viphavanh and Samdech Techo Hun Sen had a breakfast meeting in Belgium on December 14, the first of the trio after the COVID-19 pandemic was put under control.

The leaders, who are in Belgium to attend the EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations, stated the special friendship and solidarity of their countries have been increasingly consolidated and comprehensively developed, despite complicated changes in the global and regional situations. - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón on the sideline of the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit marking 45 years of diplomatic ties in Brussels, Belgium, on December 14.

The meeting took place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations (1977-2022). Read full story

- The European Union (EU) considers Vietnam one of its most important partners in the Indo-Pacific region, said Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice-President of the European Commission (EC).

 Borrell made the remarks at a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Belgium on December 13 on the sidelines of the EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit celebrating 45 years of diplomatic relations. Read full story

- President Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed the cooperation between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Republic of Korea’s Yonhap News Agency during a reception for Yonhap President and CEO Seong Ghi-hong in Hanoi on December 14.

At the reception, which also saw the presence of VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang, President Phuc welcomed Seong to Vietnam at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Read full story

- Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man has affirmed that Vietnam wants to strengthen and further develop its strategic partnership with Indonesia towards the 10th founding anniversary of the strategic partnership next year.

During a reception in Hanoi on December 14 for Chairman of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation under the Indonesian People’s Representative Council Fadli Zon, Man lauded the two legislatures for resuming the direct exchange of delegations after the COVID-19 pandemic, saying parliamentary cooperation will contribute to the bilateral strategic partnership. Gen Nguyen Duy Ngoc held a working session with head of the Belgian general department in charge of identity and citizenship affairs Philippe Moreau in Brussels on December 14 (local time) to share experience in building a population database and connecting it with the national databases for socio-economic development. - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has revised up its economic growth forecast for Vietnam to 7.5% this year, from 6.5% as projected in September, given regional and global gloom.

In its freshly released Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2022, the ADB said has also revised the Vietnamese inflation forecast down to 3.5% from 3.8% in September. Read full story

- An exhibition titled ‘Remember Barbara’ opened at the Vietnamese Women's Museum in Hanoi on December 14, telling the stories of 14 women who are living witnesses of World War II.

The exhibition is the result of an eight-year project by French documentary photographer and videographer Maureen Ragoucy, who went to visit the women in France, Italy, England, Germany, Poland, Hungary, the US and Japan. At the time of the war, these people had to leave their homelands, flee from slums, be imprisoned, or face the loss of loved ones. Read full story./.
