- As part of his working trip to the northern city of Hai Phong, Party General Secretary To Lam held a working session with the municipal Party Committee on November 14, during which he urged the local authority to pay attention to planning work, towards turning it into a modern maritime economic hub in the future.

Agreeing with the municipal Party Committee’s report, the Party chief emphasised the city's strategically vital role in national building and safeguarding, saying that it is now an important port city, an industrial and maritime economic hub in the northern coastal region, and a key driver of the nation. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse will lead a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam to attend the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 16 to 19.

During his time in Brazil, the PM will also engage in a series of bilateral activities. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made a fact-finding tour and held a working session with authorities of the northern border provinces of Cao Bang and Lang Son on November 14 to expedite expressway projects and review the construction of a pilot smart border gate.

PM Chinh stressed that the Dong Dang (Lang Son) - Tra Linh (Cao Bang) and Huu Nghi - Chi Lang (Lang Son) expressway projects hold significance, not only for their connectivity with regional expressways and the North - South expressway network but also their linkage with China. They are integral to Vietnam’s goal of building 3,000km of expressways nationwide by the end of 2025 and 5,000km by 2030, driving socio-economic development across Cao Bang, Lang Son, and the entire country. - Authorities of the northern border province of Lang Son and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China held an online signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a pilot smart border gate.

- The Authority of Information Security (AIS) under the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS)'s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on strengthening cooperation in cybersecurity, at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 14.

- Vietnam holds significant potential to export Halal food products, ranking among the world’s top 20 and top 15 exporters of food and farm produce, respectively, heard a November 14 conference on promoting the country’s Halal trade.

Participating experts discussed the fact that the Muslim market now includes over 2 billion people, roughly 25% of the global population, with the majority concentrated in Asia, particularly within the ASEAN region. A report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) shows that the community’s spending on Halal food is steadily rising, projected to reach 1.9 trillion USD by 2024 and 15 trillion USD by 2050./. Top Vietnamese leader meets with President of French Senate in Paris

The Vietnamese leader expected that the French National Assembly would soon complete the ratification of the European Union - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); and asked France to continue leveraging its role in the European Union to support stronger Vietnam-EU ties and tackle the illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and the list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes.

France hands over archival materials for exhibition at Communist Party of Vietnam Museum

The materials include a reproduction of the front page of the August 24, 1945 issue of Cuu Quoc (National Salvation) Newspaper, its first publicly printed edition after previously being secretly circulated in handwritten form, featuring the Vietnamese national flag; and documents and reports on Nguyen Ai Quoc's activities related to the establishment and orientation of the Communist Party of Annam.

Vietnam, France boost economic and financial cooperation

Economic ties have continued to grow across trade, investment and development cooperation. Bilateral trade surpassed 5 billion USD in the first eight months of 2026, with Vietnam exporting 3.1 billion USD worth of goods to France and importing 1.9 billion USD worth of products from the European country.

Vietnam, France step up cultural cooperation

Following the Vietnamese Film Week in France in 2025, Madame Ly put forth the idea of holding a Vietnamese Theatre Week in France in October, featuring water puppetry, musical theatre, contemporary dance and excerpts from traditional Vietnamese performances.
