- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam talked over the phone with General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on December 1, during which they agreed on specific orientations to implement high-level agreements between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Party chief extended his best wishes to the Lao Party, State, and people on the occasion of the 49th National Day of the country (December 2, 1975–2024) and his regards to high-ranking leaders of Laos. Read full story

- Party General Secretary To Lam, while addressing a national conference in Hanoi on December 1, emphasised the need to further create institutional breakthroughs, resolve all difficulties, obstacles, and bottlenecks to unlock resources and strongly accelerate administrative reforms thus fostering a favourable environment for development.

Held by the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, the hybrid conference aimed to review the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, dated October 25, 2017, of the 12th Party Central Committee on “Several issues on the continued reform and rearrangement for a lean, effective and efficient apparatus of the political system.” It also looked into a report on the socio-economic situation for the first 11 months of 2024, measures to accelerate socio-economic development in 2025, and solutions to institutional bottlenecks. - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his spouse Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese legislature, arrived in Singapore on December 1 afternoon, beginning an official visit to the country.

The delegation was greeted at Changi Airport by member of the Singaporean Parliament Wan Rizal, who is also member of the Singapore - Southeast Asia Parliamentary Friendship Group; Director-General of Southeast Asia Directorate II under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore Loy Hui Chen; Singaporean parliamentary officials; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung. - The 15th National Assembly (NA) wrapped up its 8th session on November 30 afternoon after 29.5 days of working.

Attending the closing session were Party General Secretary To Lam, former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former NA Chairpersons Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Sinh Hung and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien, along with other incumbent and former leaders of the Party, State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed an official dispatch, urging the acceleration of state budget collection, particularly from land-related sources, in the final month of 2024, aiming to achieve the highest possible state budget revenue, laying a strong foundation for successfully implementing socio-economic tasks for 2025 and the 2026-2030 period.

According to the document dated November 30, the Ministry of Finance will coordinate with relevant forces to direct agencies to enhance revenue management measures and strictly control tax calculation, declaration and payment, ensuring that all tax revenues are correctly and fully collected according to legal regulations, thus preventing losses for the state budget. - With 458 votes of approval from 460 deputies, the 15th National Assembly (NA) on November 30 adopted a resolution on the question-and-answer (Q&A) actities of the eighth session.

Delivering the draft resolution, Le Quang Tung, Secretary-General and head of the NA Office emphasised the positive outcomes of the (Q&A) sessions. Conducted over two days in a spirit of renovation and cooperation with the Government, these sessions were deemed a resounding success, drawing significant attention from voters and citizens nationwide. - Vietnam is witnessing a significant shift in the quality of foreign direct investment (FDI) projects pour into the country as an increasing number of high-tech and pioneering industrial companies move into the country to expand operations.

Samsung has recently announced an additional 1.8 billion USD investment in its Samsung Display factory in Bac Ninh province, expanding production beyond organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens for smartphones to include OLED displays for IT equipment and automobiles. LG, another corporation from the Republic of Korea (RoK) will inject another 1 billion USD into its project, raising the total investment from 4.65 billion USD to 5.65 billion USD. This funding will enable the production of 14 million high-tech OLED screens per month, making it one of LG's largest projects in Vietnam./. Read full story

US Ambassador awarded Friendship Order

The honour was presented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, on behalf of State President Luong Cuong, at a ceremony in Hanoi. The Order is a prestigious award of the Vietnamese State bestowed upon foreign individuals and collectives for their significant contributions to fostering friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

Vietnam seeks stronger partnership with Singapore

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that Lee will continue to support efforts to further advance Vietnam–Singapore relations in a more practical and effective manner, as well as provide advice and share experience in developing financial centres and promoting connectivity between the two countries’ international financial centres.
