Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- The Vietnamese Party and State always treasure and give the top priority to building and fostering the growing and strong relationship with Cambodia, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam affirmed while meeting with King Norodom Sihamoni who is on a state visit to Vietnam.

Congratulating the Cambodian people on their great and significant achievements in the cause of national construction and development, General Secretary Lam expressed his confidence that under the reign of the King, and the leadership of the Senate, National Assembly, and Government, they will gain new, even greater accomplishments in building a peaceful, independent, democratic, and socially progressive Cambodia. At the meeting, following his welcome ceremony for the royal guest, the President expressed his confidence that the Cambodian King’s two-day visit would significantly enhance bilateral cooperation for their people’s development and prosperity as well as for peace, stability, cooperation, and progress in the region and the world. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 28 met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, who is on a two-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 28 received visiting Minister-President of Germany’s State of Hesse Boris Rhein, who said his ongoing trip aims to step up cooperation with Vietnam in economy, education-training, and labour.

PM Chinh stated that Vietnam treasures the development of its Strategic Partnership with Germany, with a priority on cooperation with Hesse. In return, Rhein affirmed the state's desires to strengthen ties with Vietnam. Read full story

– National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on November 28 met with Cambodian King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.

- The National Assembly (NA) on November 28 voted to approve a resolution on the election of Le Quang Tung as member of the Standing Committee and General Secretary of the 15th legislature, within the framework of its ongoing 8th session.

Specifically, 453 out of 454 deputies present in the sitting, or 94.57% of the total number of deputies, voted in favour a resolution on the election, while one deputy, or 0.21%, abstained from voting. Read full story

- The 11th theoretical workshop between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) was held in the Lao province of Luang Prabang on November 28, under the theme "Developing an Independent and Self-Reliant Economy - Experiences of Vietnam and Laos".

It was co-chaired by Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the CPV Central Committee’s Political Bureau, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, and Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, Politburo member of the LPRP and Deputy Prime Minister of Laos./. Top Vietnamese leader meets with President of French Senate in Paris

The Vietnamese leader expected that the French National Assembly would soon complete the ratification of the European Union - Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); and asked France to continue leveraging its role in the European Union to support stronger Vietnam-EU ties and tackle the illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and the list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes.

France hands over archival materials for exhibition at Communist Party of Vietnam Museum

The materials include a reproduction of the front page of the August 24, 1945 issue of Cuu Quoc (National Salvation) Newspaper, its first publicly printed edition after previously being secretly circulated in handwritten form, featuring the Vietnamese national flag; and documents and reports on Nguyen Ai Quoc's activities related to the establishment and orientation of the Communist Party of Annam.

Vietnam, France boost economic and financial cooperation

Economic ties have continued to grow across trade, investment and development cooperation. Bilateral trade surpassed 5 billion USD in the first eight months of 2026, with Vietnam exporting 3.1 billion USD worth of goods to France and importing 1.9 billion USD worth of products from the European country.

Following the Vietnamese Film Week in France in 2025, Madame Ly put forth the idea of holding a Vietnamese Theatre Week in France in October, featuring water puppetry, musical theatre, contemporary dance and excerpts from traditional Vietnamese performances.
