- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong has hailed the ongoing visit by President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher as a vivid manifestation of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and France, and an important milestone in their bilateral ties.
At a reception in Hanoi on December 8 for Larcher, Trong said
the visit is taking place at a time when the two countries are preparing for
the 50th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the
10th anniversary of their strategic partnership next year. It is also the
first visit by a French Senate leader in 14 years and also the first made by

President Gérard Larcher attended a ceremony in Hanoi on December 8 to
inaugurate the new headquarters of the French Institute in Vietnam, as part of
his ongoing official visit to the Southeast Asian country.
Gérard Larcher said that the institute serves a pillar in the
culture exchange between France and Vietnam, through the organisation of events
in all fields, from cinematography to music, from performing arts to visual

Defence, received heads of delegations to the Vietnam International Defence

- The State Bank of
Vietnam (SBV)’s recent decision to increase credit room by 1.5-2% for credit
institutions aims to increase resources and the supply of credit to businesses
and key sectors of the economy, SBV Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu has said.
Tu said the impacts of the global downturn on Vietnam have
been reduced, while positive signs have been seen in macro-economic indicators,
providing favourable conditions for the increase of credit room for commercial
banks and enabling them to support businesses, projects, programmes and

enterprises (Make in Vietnam Forum 2022), one of the biggest annual events of
