-NationalAssembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue hailed the European Union as a top importantpartner in Vietnam’s foreign policy during a reception in Hanoi on February 23for Chair of the European Parliament (EP)’s Committee on Foreign Affairs DavidMcAllister.

- Minister of Industry and Trade NguyenHong Dien and Lao Minister of Energy and Mines Phoxay Sayasone have agreed tofurther boost Vietnam-Laos cooperation in energy and mining, contributing tothe traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive partnershipbetween the two nations.
Duringa working session in Hanoi on February 23, the two sides agreed that they arewell implementing an MoU signed in 2016 between the two governments oncooperation in hydro power development in Laos, grid connections andelectricity import from Laos. Read full text 

- TheVietnamese Embassy in China on February 23 held a ceremony to mark the 73rdanniversary of the Vietnam-China diplomatic relations with the participation ofVietnamese expatriates, and Chinese officials, businessmen, experts andreporters.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Pham Sao Maistressed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always attache greatimportance to consolidating and strengthening the friendship and cooperationwith their Chinese peers.

-The 76-member search and rescue team of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) safelyarrived in Hanoi from Turkey on February 23, completing their mission in theearthquake-hit nation.
Welcoming the team back at the Noi Baiinternational airport in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt.Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien acknowledged the performance of the team in the disasterrelief efforts, and affirmed that the mission was a noble international duty,which contributed to strengthening the Vietnam-Turkey cooperation. Read full text

- Ho Chi Minh City and the Canadianprovince of Nova Scotia have the potential and advantages to boost cooperationin areas, particularly hi-tech agriculture, and trade of aquaculture products,Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said during hismeeting with Nova Scotia’s Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Steve Craig.

Party official, JICA President discuss expanding leadership training cooperation

Vietnam suggested JICA continue implementing a leadership capacity-building project for 2026–2028, aligned with Vietnam’s development priorities and four new pillars of bilateral cooperation - AI, digital transformation, smart cities and high-tech infrastructure; high-quality human resource development and institutional reform; green and circular economy development and disaster prevention; and social welfare, health care, elderly care and private-sector development.

ASEAN Future Forum 2026 highlights Vietnam’s role in shaping ASEAN agenda: Chinese scholar

Professor Qu Qiang of the Minzu University of China and commentator for China Global Television Network (CGTN) said the forum underscores Vietnam’s growing role as one of the countries helping shape ASEAN’s agenda. Topics such as unity and resilience, conflict prevention and AI governance address some of the region’s most pressing challenges, while new mechanisms including political-party dialogue and greater participation by cities and youth reflect efforts to modernise regional governance.
