- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended the opening ceremony anddelivered remarks at a high-level discussion of the 52nd regular session of theUN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 27.

In his speech, Deputy PM Quang said the Universal Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR) and the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action (VDPA) on humanrights are solid frameworks for the international community to jointly enhanceawareness and action to promote and protect human rights, and that manyimportant achievements have been obtained over decades. - Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén held a workingsession with authorities of the central province of Quang Tri on February 27 todiscuss activities marking the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’svisit to the  liberated area in the southof Vietnam (September 1973). - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended a gathering held at the108 Military Central Hospital in Hanoi on February 27 in celebration of the68th Vietnamese Doctors’ Day (February 27).

- Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen Hoang Xuan Chien saidhe hopes that the US will continue offering long-term funding to Vietnam tohelp the country deal with the consequences of bombs, mines and unexplodedordinance left over from the war and create gainful livelihoods for thoseliving in affected areas.

During a working session in Hanoi on February 27 with US Ambassador to VietnamMarc E. Knapper, Chien, who is also head of the standing board of the NationalSteering Committee on Overcoming Post-War Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and ToxicChemical Consequences, stressed that Vietnam will continue creating favourableconditions and work closely with the US partners to achieve set targets. - The three-day 12th Vinacas Golden Cashew Rendezvous saw its main event kickoff in Ho Chi Minh City on February 27, attracting the participation of 350delegates from more than 40 countries and territories worldwide.

At the event run by the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), Vietnameseexperts joined international businessmen and producers to analyse the marketand suggest measures and initiatives toward the sustainable growth of thecashew sector. Read full story

- Experts from the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) and the WorldWild Fund for Nature (WWF) in Vietnam conducted a field trip to inspecttechnical and financial support for a project on the sustainable development ofNgoc Linh ginseng under forest canopy in the central province of Quang Nam provincefrom February 26-27.

The project is conducted by Samsam Group on a site of 2.5ha in Tra Linhcommune, Nam Tra My district with the first-stage capital of 120 billion VND(5.2 million USD). Read full story

- The MB Cambodia Bank, Public limited Company (MB Cambodia) officiallylaunched its services on February 27 as a commercial bank wholly invested byVietnam’s Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB).

Addressing the ceremony in Phnom Penh, MB Vice Chairman and Director GeneralLuu Trung Thai said realising opportunities in the retail and digital bankingsegments and with cooperation from strategic partners, MB leaders decided totransform the branch in Cambodia, founded in 2011, into a commercial bank. During the session, the NA Standing Committee will give opinions on a draft ordinance amending and supplementing a number of articles of the ordinance on the procedures for considering and deciding on the application of administrative sanctions at the People's Courts.

Party official, JICA President discuss expanding leadership training cooperation

Vietnam suggested JICA continue implementing a leadership capacity-building project for 2026–2028, aligned with Vietnam’s development priorities and four new pillars of bilateral cooperation - AI, digital transformation, smart cities and high-tech infrastructure; high-quality human resource development and institutional reform; green and circular economy development and disaster prevention; and social welfare, health care, elderly care and private-sector development.

ASEAN Future Forum 2026 highlights Vietnam’s role in shaping ASEAN agenda: Chinese scholar

Professor Qu Qiang of the Minzu University of China and commentator for China Global Television Network (CGTN) said the forum underscores Vietnam’s growing role as one of the countries helping shape ASEAN’s agenda. Topics such as unity and resilience, conflict prevention and AI governance address some of the region’s most pressing challenges, while new mechanisms including political-party dialogue and greater participation by cities and youth reflect efforts to modernise regional governance.
