- Agro-forestry-aquaticproduct exports were estimated at 20.26 billion USD in the first five months of2023, down 11.1% year on year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development (MARD).

Meanwhile, the country's imports also dropped 8.7%to 13.15 billion USD, resulting in a five-month trade surplus of 3.55billion USD, falling 21.1% from a year earlier. Read full story

- The Civil AviationAuthority of Vietnam (CAAV) will pilot the use of level-2 electronicidentification (eID) authentication for air passengers at airports nationwidefrom June 1 to August 1, it said in its recent report sent to the Ministry ofTransport.

The level 2 account is created in case theinformation of the declarant has been verified by a portrait photo or afingerprint that matches the information recorded in the country’sdatabases on population, citizen identity, or immigration. Read full story

- The first-everVietnam NASA Space Week will be held in Ho Chi Minh City and Hau Giang and BinhDinh provinces in the South from June 5-9, heard a press conference on May 29.

The event will be co-organised by the People’sCommittees of Hau Giang province, Thu Duc city (HCM City), and Binh Dinhprovince, and the HCM City Computer Association, with the support of the USNational Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Read full story

Vietnam, Laos strengthen cooperation on overseas community affairs

The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in overseas Vietnamese and overseas Lao affairs for the 2026–2030 period, providing a framework for future collaboration. Laos will send a delegation to Vietnam to study preparations for the World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese, scheduled for December 2026.

Vietnam seeks stronger ties with Greece’s Patras

Mayor Kostas Peletidis said Patras is ready to work with the Vietnamese Embassy to promote the country as well as its culture and people through local cultural events and festivals, including the Patras Carnival, one of Greece’s largest annual festivals, the mayor remarked.

PM urges Tuyen Quang to accelerate measures to achieve double-digit growth

The PM chaired a working session on July 15 with the Standing Board of the Tuyen Quang Party Committee on socio-economic development, the double-digit growth target, public investment disbursement, the operation of the two-tier local government model, implementation of Politburo Resolution No. 57, and measures to address local challenges.
