– The sixth plenum of the 13th Party CentralCommittee wrapped up in Hanoi on October 9 after seven days of sitting, withall items on its agenda completed.

In his closing remarks, Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasised the need to maintain vigilance againstCOVID-19 in the time ahead, keep macro-economic stability, control inflationand ensure major economic balances, especially in finance and budget, as theworld economy and situation are expected to develop complicatedly andunexpectedly. Read full story

– The 16th session of the National Assembly(NA) Standing Committee is scheduled to open on October 10 and conclude onOctober 12, said the NA Office. Speaking at variousdiscussion sessions, Mai highlighted Vietnam's priorities and commitments inits candidacy to the UNHRC for the 2023-2025 term, reaffirming the Party andState’s consistent guidelines and policies of putting people at the centre ofthe development and ensuring that they can share in the fruits of this process.Read full story

– The Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) High Commandhas said that it will take more drastic measures to fight illegal, unreportedand unregulated (IUU) fishing, contributing to maintaining order and safety atsea, and sustainably developing the maritime economy while consolidatingnational defence and security.

Vietnam, India enhance defence cooperation
