Vietnam wants enhanced cooperation with Ecuador: Ambassador

Canberra (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam on October 25 hosted Ambassador of Ecuador Arturo Cabrera-Hidalgo in Canberra on October 25, during which he expressed his hope for enhance collaboration with the South American country.

Tam spoke highly of the Vietnam – Ecuador friendship and expected the two countries will step up cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, and people-to-people exchange as well as work closely with each other at regional and international forums, including the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC).

Arturo Cabrera-Hidalgo, for his part, praised the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, stressing that Ecuador sees Vietnam as a strategically important partner in the region and wishes to set up a diplomatic representative office in Vietnam in the coming time.

He said he hopes that Vietnam and Ecuador will bolster collaboration and mutual support to become official members of the WCPFC, and shared Ecuador’s experience in tuna fishing cooperation with island nations in the South Pacific./.
