-The 15th National Assembly (NA) on October 24 approved a list of 44 persons subject to the vote of confidence at its ongoing sixth session in Hanoi.
NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said the organisation of the vote of confidence aims to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of the parliament’s supervisory activities and the State apparatus’s activities, help assess the prestige and performance of officials, and help them realise the confidence they are given to continue making self-improvement and bettering their performance. It is also a basis for authorised agencies to carry out personnel planning, training, appointment, and use.Read full text

-President Vo Van Thuong pledged favourable conditions for Vietnam - Cuba defence cooperation while receiving Sen. Lt. Gen. Roberto Legra Sotolongo, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, who is on a working visit to Vietnam, in Hanoi on October 24.

-Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard force, held annual talks with Director General of the Lao Border Military Department Major General Siphan Phoutthavong in Luang Prabang on October 24.

-Vietnam's top female badminton player, Nguyen Thuy Linh, earned a historic milestone on October 24 by entering the top 20 in the Badminton World Federation (BWF)’s world rankings for the first time.
