Muong Lo Culture, Tourism Week suspended as President passes away

The Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Week 2018, as well as a festival to explore the terraced fields of Mu Cang Chai district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, will be suspended due to President Tran Dai Quang’s sudden passing.

Yen Bai (VNA) – The Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Week 2018, as well as a festival to explore the terraced fields of Mu Cang Chai district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, will be suspended due to President Tran Dai Quang’s sudden passing.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Van Tien made the announcement on September 21.

Previously, the event was scheduled to take place from September 21-25. The culture and tourism week was set to open on September 21 night in Nghia Lo town, and the festival would be opened on September 22 night in My Cang Chai district.

Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang passed away at 10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi at the age of 62.

According to the Board of Healthcare Services for Senior Officials, the President died at Military Central Hospital 108 due to serious illness. –VNA
