DNP Director-General Thanya Netithammakun and a group of Chiang Rai artists led by renowned national artist, Chalermchai Kositpipat, have attended a religious ceremony to ask the holy spirits at the cave for forgiveness and permission to construct a museum.
The football team, which consists of 12 boys and their coach, was exploring the cave on June 23, but became trapped by rising flood waters within. All of them were successfully brought out on July 11 by a team of seasoned Thai and foreign divers.
A statue of Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Saman Kunan or ‘Ja Sam’ who lost his life during the mission will be erected in front of the museum to honor his bravery.
The museum will display photos of the rescue mission and paintings related to the event. The construction will be completed in five months.-NNT/VNA
