Thailand: Thank-you event for all involved in Tham Luang Cave rescue

The Thai government has planned to hold a thank-you event for all involved in the Tham Luang Cave rescue operation on August 1 in front of Dusit Palace under the title “United as One”.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai government has planned to hold a thank-you event for all involved in the Tham Luang Cave rescue operation on August 1 in front of Dusit Palace under the title “United as One”. 

Minister of the Thai Prime Minister’s Office Suwaphan Tanyuwattana elaborated that the event aims to thank all involved in the rescue of the 13 members of Moo Pa Academy youth football team from Tham Luang Cave in Chiang Rai province, noting that it will be appropriate and simple. 

Those to be invited include all Thais who took part in the operation from civil servants and police to soldiers, volunteers, representatives of foundations and the wife of former Thai Navy Seal Saman Kunan, who lost his life during the mission, rescuers from abroad, members of both Thai and foreign media and members of the Thai public who took a supporting role. 

Chiang Rai Governor Prajon Prachsakul, meanwhile, made known that all members of the youth football team undergo a physical examination before they are ordained in a tribute to Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign and Lt Commander Saman Kunan.

They are to be ordained on July 25 at Wat Phra Tat Doi Tung and will spend their monkhood at Wat Phra Tat Doi Wao in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai. The 13 youths will be monks for nine days until August 3.-NNT/VNA
