Hanoi (VNA) – A Myanmar junta court on January 10 sentenced Aung San Suu Kyi to four years in prison on three charges, including illegally importing and owning walkie-talkies and breaking COVID-19 prevention and control rules, according to the local media.

It was also confirmed by spokesman of the Myanmar government Maj. Gen Zaw Min Tun.

In December 2021, a court also handed down a four-year imprisonment sentence to Aung San Suu Kyi for protesting the army and breaching COVID-19 rules. Later, Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, chairman of the ruling State Administration Council (SAC) of Myanmar and army chief, cut the sentence to two years and said she could serve her term under house arrest./
