The government of Hakha city, the capital of Chin state in northwest Myanmar, is evacuating about 4,000 people after landslides as a result of heavy rains destroyed 375 houses, foreign media reported.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, at least 103 people have been killed and more than one million have been affected by the flooding.
It is the worst natural disaster in Myanmar since Cyclone Nargis killed nearly 140,000 people in 2008.
The Myanmar government has declared the Chin state and three other areas disaster zones and is appealing for international help.-VNA
