Hanoi (VNA) – With 459 “yes” votes from 460 attending deputies, or 94.25%, the 15th National Assembly (NA) adopted a resolution approving the State budget settlement for 2022 on June 24 as part of the legislature’s ongoing seventh session.

Chairman of the NA Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs Le Quang Manh said many deputies pointed out lingering shortcomings in drafting and implementing the State budget estimates and settlement at some ministries, sectors and localities, and urged solutions to this problem.

He said that the NA Standing Committee asked the Government to deal with the slow submission of documents on State budget settlement, including that for 2022, while considering the adjustment of the State Budget Law’s regulations on the procedures for deciding State budget settlement and relevant laws to shorten the time and procedures for making annual State budget settlement.

The NA Standing Committee also agreed with deputies’ opinions that the information and data on finalisation of revenues, expenditures, and State budget deficit in 2022 changed quite significantly compared to those reported by the Government at the parliament's fifth session, which was not been reported to the NA Standing Committee to enable the supplementation of the 2022 state budget estimates.

Therefore, the NA Standing Committee proposed that the NA consider approving the addition of over 3.1 trillion VND (121.77 million USD) to the 2022 State budget revenue estimate to ensure the compliance with the State Budget Law. It asked the Government to order the Finance Ministry, other ministries, sectors and localities to draw lessons from, bear responsibility for and not repeat the act of updating and adjusting data after the settlement adjustment period, Manh added./.
