NA Chairman certifies revised Constitution

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on December 2 signed to certify the revised 1992 Constitution adopted at the freshly-ended sixth session of the 13th National Assembly.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the NA Chairman affirmed that theConstitution is a political and legal document of special importance. Itis a fundamental law of the State that reflects the will and aspirationof the whole nation as well as provides strategic orientations fornational development.

He said that the 13th NA’sfirst session issued a resolution on amending and supplementing the 1992Constitution and establishing the Committee for Drafting Amendmentsto the 1992 Constitution.

Feedback on the draftwas gathered from agencies, organisations and individuals, includingoverseas Vietnamese. Based on their opinions, the National Assemblyconsidered the draft during three sessions and adopted it on November 28at the sixth sitting, Chairman Hung said.

The toplegislator emphasised the historical mission of the revisedConstitution, saying that it not only reflects the progress of thecountry but also ensures a firmer political and legal foundation for theState and people in the face of the era’s new challenges.

With the adoption of the revised Constitution, the NA accomplished itsglorious mission, together with the nation entering a new period ofdevelopment, he noted.

The NA leader once again thanked people nationwide for their contributions to building the Constitution.-VNA

To further advance bilateral ties in the new era, the two leaders agreed to continue making full use of existing cooperation mechanisms across all channels, including meetings between the two Parties, promote exchanges between young leaders and youth from both countries, and expand cooperation between their legislative, executive and judicial bodies, people’s organisations and localities.

This is PM Hung’s first official visit to Cambodia. It holds particular significance, demonstrating the high priority that the Party, State and Government of Vietnam attach to relations with Cambodia and contributing to further deepening the bilateral ties of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability”.
