National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and his staff arrived in Hanoi on March 3, wrapping up their official visits to India and Indonesia .
The visits were made at the invitations of Speaker of the Indian House of the People (the Lok Sabha) Meira Kumar and Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Marzuki Alie.
During his stay in India, NA Chairman Trong held talks with Speaker Kumar, paid a courtesy visit to President Pratibha Patil and met with Vice President Hamid Ansari, who is also the chairman of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament, and received the leaders of the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
He also joined activities as part of “Vietnamese Days in India”, and visited Bodhgaya city in the state of Bihar and Bangalore, the capital of the state of Karnataka.
While in Indonesia, Chairman Trong held talks with Speaker Alie, signed a cooperation agreement with the country’s parliament and attended meetings with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, General Secretary of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Antonio V.Cuenco, and ASEAN General Secretary Surin Pitsuwan.
