NA leader attends Binh Phuoc People’s Council meeting

Binh Phuoc (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the opening of the 15th session of the 10th People’s Council of the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

The NA leader noted that at the just-concluded session, the NA adopted 11 laws and 21 resolutions, including a resolution on the investment policy of the Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh section of the North-South Expressway that connects Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong and other localities in the region with Ho Chi Minh City, creating a growth momentum for the Central Highlands and the southeastern region.

He highlighted Binh Phuoc’s favourable location in the transition area from the Central Highlands to the southeastern region and the border with Cambodia, and lauded the locality’s achievements so far with an economic growth of 7.76% in the first six months of this year and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows of 4.63 trillion VND (181.88 million USD).

The top legislator underlined that 2024 has an important significance in implementing the targets for the 2021-2026 of the Party and Binh Phuoc as well, asking the Party Committees and administrations at all levels, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee and other organisations of Binh Phuoc to continue effectively implementing resolutions of the Party, NA, and Government in socio-economic development, defence-security, finance-budget, public investment, national target programmes, administrative reform, and business environment improvement.

Specifically, the province should focus on promoting trans-regional transport system, realising the provincial planning for the 2021-2025 period with a vision to 2050, and combining socio-economic and cultural development with defence-security ensuring and promoting diplomatic activities, especially border diplomacy to build a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development with Cambodia, he said.

At the same time, it is necessary to ensure disciplines and strengthen the prevention of downgrade in political ideology, morality and lifestyle as well as signs of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation”, along with corruption combat, he said.

NA Chairman Man also asked the People’s Council of Binh Phuoc to renovate its operations for higher efficiency.

Earlier the same day, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), the NA leader and a NA Standing Committee delegation visited the special national relic site of Ta Thiet - the headquarters of the Command of the Liberation Army of South Vietnam located in Loc Ninh district of Binh Phuoc. He presented 20 gifts to policy beneficiary households and people who rendered services to the nation in Loc Thanh commune, Loc Ninh district./.
