NA leader meets with outstanding journalists from nationwide

Hanoi (VNA) – NationalAssembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan meet on June 12 with some veteranjournalists and 187 outstanding journalists from across the country, ahead ofthe 95th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).

The top legislator emphasised thatunder the Party’s leadership and late President Ho Chi Minh’s guidance, therevolutionary press of Vietnam has been developing continuously, showingpatriotism, firm political mettle, skillfulness, and proactiveness in accessingand mastering modern technologies in journalism.

Press agencies have performed theirfunctions well as the organs of the Party, the State and social organisations,as well as people’s forums, she said.
Ngan applauded the press's contributions to theCOVID-19 fight via creative reporting methods and profound articles which havecomprehensively and transparently provided information about the pandemic and populariserelevant knowledge among the public, thus helping with Vietnam’s great success inthe combat.

She also appreciated press outlets’role as a bridge linking the NA with the people and asked them to continue coveringactivities of the parliament and its agencies in a timely manner whileobjectively and precisely reflecting social issues as well as experts' and the public’sopinions so that the NA can issue feasible laws and policies meeting the people’saspirations.

At the meeting in Hanoi,Ngan said for the time to come, press agencies need to pay more attention to the13th National Party Congress and elections of deputies to the 15th-tenureNA and all-level People’s Councils for 2021-2026.

They also have to further consolidatejournalists’ political mettle and occupational ethics, actively makeinnovation, apply new media technologies, improve professional skills, andbring into play journalists’ wisdom, talent, enthusiasm and creativity, therebyfurther contributing to the revolutionary press of Vietnam for the sake of thecountry and people, she added.

A gathering is going to be organised onJune 13 to honour the 187 exemplary journalists./.

Nghe An reburies martyrs' remains repatriated from Laos

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phung Thanh Vinh said that carrying a noble international duty, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts heroically joined Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives in the country, including more than 12,000 soldiers laying down in the three provinces of Xaysomboun, Vientiane, and Xiangkhouang.

19 localities eradicate substandard houses
