National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee wrapped up its 18th session on May 16 in Hanoi.

On the final day of the session, the committee discussed and reached agreement on the construction of a NA television channel in a bid to help citizens get up-to-date information on its operation.

It agreed to make the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) responsible for launching and managing the television channel.

The NA Office will develop a document on the establishment of the channel for the Standing Committee to submit to the Prime Minister for approval, said Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Head of the NA Office.

The NA Office will work with VOV to design regulations on the channel’s joint management, he added.

Addressing the event, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung asked relevant bodies to thoroughly prepare to ensure the quality of programmes so that NA-related information is shown in a timely and accurate manner.

Also on the day, delegates reviewed reports on preparations for conducting votes of confidence on persons holding positions elected or approved by the NA or People’s Councils at the fifth sitting of the 13th National Assembly.

They also gave their opinions on the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution.-VNA
