The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee started its 23rd meeting in Hanoi on December 23 to review the outcomes of the NA’s sixth session and consider initial preparations for the next.

In his opening remarks, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the committee will approve the Ordinance on Mobile Police and devise its working programme as well as international cooperative programmes of NA agencies during 2014.

Lawmakers will also raise their opinions on a plan on the implementation of the Constitution and the committee’s draft report reviewing the enforcement of the Law on Organisation of the National Assembly in 2011.

During the session, legislators are scheduled to deliberate the issuance of a resolution on the implementation of the Constitution, he stressed, adding that the resolution requires agencies to roll out plans to bring the legal document to fruition.

Highlighting the success of the sixth session, which took place from October 21 to November 29, the chief legislator said the sitting completed a heap of work.

The legislature approved the Constitution and the revised Land Law, and decided on a socio-economic plan and the State budget for 2014 as well as tasks set out for the remaining of the 2011-2015 five-year plan.

The question-and-answer session fulfilled the requirements of today and satisfied voters’ expectations, NA Chairman Hung said.

For the first time the legislative body has devoted time to look into the Government’s report on the implementation of the NA’s resolutions on question-and-answer activities in the three previous sessions.
The hearing session took place in a democratic manner with open dialogue and a constructive spirit, he said.
The NA approved a resolution on the question-and-answer session and required the Government, the Prime Minister, the ministers and heads of branches to obtain deputies’ opinions.

NA Chairman Hung said the session’s outcomes have significantly contributed to national construction and development in the renewal period, helping to build up the public’s trust.

In the morning, the committee approved the Ordinance on Mobile Police with five chapters stipulating the position, function and operation of the force, among others.-VNA
