Bucharest (VNA) – National Assembly Vice ChairmanUong Chu Luu met with Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall in Buchareston May 4 to discuss bilateral cooperation in diverse areas.

Luu lauded the prospects of bilateral labour partnershipwith nearly 2,000 Vietnamese workers to arrive in the European country for jobsthis year, adding that Vietnam holds potential of training highly-skilledworkers that will meet the host country’s demand.

Expressing his delight at the growing ties between theVietnamese NA and the Parliament of Romania over the past years, Luu said bothsides had exchanged delegations to discuss legal supervision and establishedfriendship parliamentarians’ groups to bolster ties between lawmakers.

The guest thanked Romania for training nearly 4,000Vietnamese experts in diverse areas in the past and providing 10 scholarshipsfor Vietnamese students each year at present.

He asked Romania to push forward the European Union’ssigning and ratification of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to boosttrade-investment ties between Vietnam and the EU, and between Vietnam andRomania in particular.

Birchall, for her part, expressed her wish to consolidateall-around ties with Vietnam, especially in economy, trade, culture andeducation.

She noted the need to clear obstacles in bilateral economiccollaboration and underscored the importance of the Inter-Governmental CooperationCommittee mechanism.

She hoped that the meeting of the Vietnam – RomaniaInter-Governmental Cooperation Committee scheduled for this autumn in Bucharestwill promote cooperation in fields of both sides’ strength and demand such aspharmaceuticals, chemicals, oil and gas, and shipbuilding.

The Deputy PM vowed to create favourable conditions for theRomanian Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment to discuss collaborationwith the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. 

Both sides agreed on the idea to enhance partnership betweenthe two countries’ cities and provinces on the back of their respective strengthsand demand.

New regulation on political, ideological work in Party highlighted at national conference

The regulation, adopted at the second plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee and issued as Regulation No. 19-QD/TW on April 8, 2026, marks the first comprehensive and systematic framework governing political and ideological work in the Party. It reflects a new step in theoretical mindset and strong political resolve to enhance Party building as well as the Party's leadership and combat capacity.

Party conference spotlights key reforms in inspection, disciplinary work

Resolution 05 introduces a number of breakthrough viewpoints, positioning inspection and supervision as one of the Party’s most critical leadership functions. It is defined as a mechanism for self-correction and self-improvement, a key tool to control power and uphold Party discipline and order, ensuring that the Party’s guidelines are implemented rigorously and effectively in practice.

Vietnam, China strengthen youth exchanges to deepen bilateral ties

The Vietnamese diplomat stressed that during the upcoming state visit by General Secretary and State President To Lam, the meeting between senior leaders of the two countries and youth participating in the ninth edition of “Red study tour” programme in China reflects the special attention paid by the top leaders of both Parties and countries to nurturing and educating younger generations, enabling them to carry forward the revolutionary traditions of previous generations.

Slovak Prime Minister begins official visit to Vietnam
