Nai Lagoon – Alluring destination in Ninh Thuan

The central coastal province of Ninh Thuan captivates tourists not only for its long stretches of white sandy beaches and ancient Cham towers, but also with the Nai lagoon. The lagoon has a serene beauty with endless mangrove forests, which is livened up with a traditional seafood market on its bank, portraying a vibrant coastal rural picture.

Nai lagoon, located in Ninh Hai district, spans approximately 1,200 ha. It connects to Phan Rang Bay via Ninh Chu estuary and is one of the 12 major coastal lagoons in Vietnam. The lagoon is home to over 320 marine species, providing significant economic benefits to thousands of local households.

Thanks to efforts in mangrove reforestation, Nai lagoon has become increasingly lush, attracting various bird species, creating a vibrant and colorful natural landscape.

With favourable environmental conditions such as stable salinity, calm waves, and limited boat traffic, the lagoon has become an ideal region for aquaculture, particularly for oyster farming. The oysters here grow rapidly, have a high yield, and are rich in nutrients, making them a local specialty.

Nguyen Thanh Duy from Tri Hải commune operates 15 oyster rafts. After deducting investment costs, each raft generates a profit of over 1,180 USD. Due to the high economic benefits, the oyster farming model in Nai lagoon has expanded, with more than 840 rafts.

Located by the peaceful Nai lagoon, Nai Market in Khanh Hai town is famous for its fresh seafood such as shrimp, crab, oysters, and various fish caught and sold by local fishermen.

Nai Market's unique location draws visitors not only for its fresh seafood but also for the chance to experience the vibrant atmosphere of a coastal village market set against the beautiful backdrop of Nai lagoon.

Nại Market currently has over 600 vendors. It opens throughout the day, but the busiest times are from 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Due to the fresh, high-quality seafood, the market attracts many shoppers, especially on weekends and during holidays.

Nai lagoon is becoming a popular destination for tourists exploring Ninh Thuan. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty while also experiencing the daily lives of local fishermen, tasting regional specialties, and learning about traditional fishing practices. This combination promises unforgettable experiences for travelers./.
