National Reunification Day marked in Russia

Moscow (VNA) –
The Consulate Generalsof Vietnam in Russia recently held celebrations of the 44th anniversary of theLiberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975).

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Vladivostok cityon April 23 held a meeting to mark the event.

Consul General Nguyen Hoang Viet highlighted thesignificant meaning of the April 30 victory in 1975, which helped completelyliberate the South, unify the country, and end the US war in Vietnam.

He expressed the deep gratitude of Vietnamesepeople to Russian war veterans and people, especially those in Vladivostok cityand Primorye province, for their valuable support in the most difficult time ofthe national defence.

He affirmed that the traditional friendship andcooperation between Vietnam and Russia have been developing with theorganisation of various activities on the Russia Year in Vietnam and vice versain 2019, particularly the erection of the statue of late President Ho Chi Minhin Vladivostok.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Consulate General inEkaterinburg coordinated with the Vietnamese war veterans association inSverlovsk to celebrate the day.

Consul General Ngo Phuong Nghi said Vietnam alwaysbears in mind the sacrifice of soldiers and people for the nationalreunification as well as the invaluable assistance of Russian brothers andcomrades.

The diplomat presented medals to five Russianwar veterans who had been involved in the battlefields in Vietnam inrecognition of their excellent fulfillment of international missions.

On April 28, the Embassy of Vietnam in Russiahosted the final round of a community art contest in Moscow to celebrate theVietnam-Russia and Russia-Vietnam friendship year.-VNA
