National Single Window mechanism proves effective

Hanoi (VNA) – The implementation of the National Single Window (NSW)and ASEAN Single Window (ASW) customs mechanisms has produced positive results,facilitating trade development in Vietnam, said Deputy Finance Minister Vu ThiMai at a press conference on July 19.

According to Mai, as of June 10, 11ministries and sectors have connected to the NSW since it was launched inNovember 2014. As a result, 53 administrative procedures involving nearly 1.26million documents of 22,000 enterprises have been handled through thismechanism.

By the end of this year, an additional 143administrative procedures will be carried out through the mechanism, raisingthe total to 196, equivalent to 78 percent of the 251 procedures expected to beimplemented by 2020, she added.

Regarding specialised inspections on importsand exports, Nguyen Cong Binh, deputy head of the Customs of Vietnam, said thecustoms sector has coordinated with relevant ministries and sectors to step upreform of modes of specialised inspections and management, and reviewed legalregulations on these works to detect shortcomings.

Deputy Minister Mai stated that theimplementation of the NSW and reform of specialised inspections have created confidenceand resolve in leaders at all levels.

They are aware of the need to hasten reformand apply new management technologies with international standards while makingpolicies and institutions, she noted.

The business community has welcomed thechange in Government agencies, and hoped that the Government will speed up theexpansion of the implementation of the NSW mechanism and reform of specialisedinspections.

Vietnam’s international organisations anddevelopment partners such as the World Bank, the European Union, the US, Japanand the Republic of Korea have acknowledged the Government’s reforms, sheadded.

The official said that a national conferenceon boosting the NSW and ASW customs mechanisms will be held on July 24.-VNA
