Hanoi (VNA) - Contestants from across Vietnam are showing off their vocational skills in 26 professions at the ongoing 10th National Skills Competition.

As many as 520 competitors in 56 teams from ministries, sectors and localities nationwide registered to participate in the biennial event, which are being organised in Hanoi and the northern province of Ha Nam from May 13-20.

The activity aims to honour young workers with high vocational skills, and encourage emulation movements in enterprises and vocational training institutions, thus improving the quality of young labourers and increasing labour productivity.

The competitors will compete in 24 official professions including electro mechanics, mechanical technical design; welding; industrial automation; mobile robotics; electronics, hi-tech machine maintenance; website designing; IT software solutions; graphic design, fashion technology; automobile technology; hairstyling; cooking; restaurant services and civil carpentry.

Demonstrations will be held for two other professions which are automobile paint and Internet of Things.

The three best performers at the event will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals, while all contestants will receive certificates from the organising board.

The most excellent contestants will represent Vietnam at the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition in Thailand from August 26 - September 4, 2018 and the 44th World Skills Competition in Russia from August 22-27, 2018.-VNA
