Nearly 1,000 creations star in Fashion Week

Vietnam Fashion Week Autumn and Winter 2011 opened on April 18, kicking off an event which will highlight 27 designer collections at the Daewoo Hotel in Hanoi .

This year, most of thecollections feature wool, denim, velvet and khaki by young designersfrom Viet Thang, Como Fashion and veterans such as Minh Hanh, TrongNguyen and Viet Lien.

The fashion week exhibits 900designs, with diverse styles, fresh perspectives, functionally combinedwith beautiful design.

Models sported modern looksby Viet Thang Garment's designers Cuong Thinh, Hong Dung and TrongNguyen on the opening night of the three-day event.

Como's Green Collection is entirely produced from theenvironmentally-friendly ramie tree. The material can easily be combinedwith cotton, wool and silk, and has been used in haute couture. TheGreen Collection will be shown April 19.

FashionWeek marks the public premier for the Hanoi-based Vietnam DesignerFashion Gallery and F8 designers from HCM City . The twocollections feature the designs of young designers giving their take onautumn and winter.

The F8 designer show took fashionfans by storm on April 18, with Hanoi 's designers showing off theirlooks on April 19.

Fashion Week will wrap up with a show by veteran Minh Hanh. Hanh is known as being at the vanguard of Vietnamese fashion.

Vietnamese sports delegation leaves for ASIAD 20 in Japan

The Vietnamese delegation comprises 496 members, including athletes, coaches, experts, officials, doctors and medical staff. The teams will depart in several groups depending on their competition schedules, with the largest group expected to leave on September 16. The squad has set a target of winning at least four gold medals at ASIAD 20.
