Nearly 30 million USD disbursed for HCM City projects

Ho Chi Minh City has disbursed more than 3 billion JPY (29.6 million USD) of Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) for local traffic and environmental projects, according to the municipal People’s Committee.

The city’s People’s Committee reportedto Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai that of that sum, about 1.56billion JPY (15.4 million USD) has been disbursed for the East WestHighway , while the rest went to the first phase of a water environmentimprovement project.

Municipal authorities haveordered the Urban – Civil Works Construction Investment ManagementAuthority to take drastic measures to accelerate the disbursementprogress before August 31, the expiry of loan agreements’ disbursement.

HCM City asked the Deputy PM to instruct authorised ministries to help speed up the disbursement.

The 21.89km East West highway traverses eight districts and includes11 bridges and 8 overpasses. About 65 percent of its 16 trillion VND(760 million USD) investment was financed by Japan’s ODA.-VNA

Can Tho, Guangxi seek collaboration in logistics, supply chains

Chinese investors now back 35 projects in Can Tho with registered capital of nearly 1.2 billion USD. In the first seven months of 2026, Can Tho’s exports to China hit 77.5 million USD, while imports stood at 64.7 million USD. Key exports included rice, seafood, farm produce, processed agricultural products and apparel while main imports comprised agricultural chemicals, veterinary medicines, fertilisers, chemicals, fabrics and other materials and inputs.

Vietnam, Russia move to boost financial cooperation

On bilateral economic, trade and investment ties, Tuan said two-way trade hit 3.24 billion USD in the first seven months of 2026, up 12% from a year earlier. Vietnam’s exports to Russia totaled 1.33 billion USD, while imports amounted to 1.91 billion USD.
