Hanoi (VNA) – Close to 330 Vietnamese citizens were repatriated home safe and sound from Angola on a flight of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 20.

The flight was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, the Embassy of Vietnam in Angola, Vietnam Airlines and relevant agencies of the African country.

The passengers included the ill, labourers with expired contracts and those in extremely disadvantaged circumstances.

The Vietnamese Embassy had sent staff to the airport to assist them with boarding procedures.

Strict security, safety and epidemiological measures were implemented during the flights to ensure passengers’ health and prevent the spread of diseases.

After landing Van Don airport in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, the passengers and crew members had their health checked and were sent to quarantine in line with regulations.

The repatriation of Vietnamese citizens in disadvantaged circumstances abroad will continue to be conducted in line with citizens’ wishes, the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine capacity in the country./.
