ThuaThien – Hue (VNA) – The 32nd Vietnam Student Olympiad inInformatics (OLP) and the 2023 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC)Asia opened in the central city of Hue on December 6.

Jointlyorganised by the Vietnam Association for Information Processing, the VietnameseStudents’ Association, and the Hue University of Sciences,the three-day event attracts the participation of nearly 700 students from 88home and foreign universities, colleges and institutions, including theRepublic of Korea, China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Principalof the university Vo Thanh Tung said the competition is expected to provide a newplayground, encouraging the movement of learning computer science and looking for young computing talents.

The winning team will stand a chance to take part in the 2023 global ICPC Finals which will be held in Kazakhstan in September 2024 while the top 10outstanding teams will be qualified for the ICPC Asia Pacific 2023 Finals,taking place in Hanoi in March 2024.

Vietnam was officially approved to organise the ICPC in Asiain 2006. Since 2007, the OLP and the ICPC have been been organised at thesame time, creating a major IT event for Vietnamese students and those from Asia./.

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills

In his opening speech, PM Pham Minh Chinh revealed the Government’s plan to submit 63 documents and reports to the 15th NA’s 9th session, including 37 draft laws and regulatory resolutions, all aimed at having a wide-ranging impact on society. Earlier this month, feedback was provided on six other draft laws and resolutions.

PM urges spread of emulation movements to inspire national pride

Commendation must be objective, transparent, and merit-based, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed, noting that legal documents guiding the enforcement of the Law on Emulation and Commendation are nearly complete, ensuring effective enforcement across ministries, agencies, and localities.
