Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman and Chairperson of the National Election Council (NEC) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan inspected election-organising work at several polling stations in Hanoi on May 22 after casting her ballots early the same day.

At the polling station No. 8 in Kim Chung commune, Hanoi’s outlying Dong Anh district, where a great number of voters are working at Thang Long industrial park, Ngan hailed the local authorities for organising the voting in compliance with law.

Visiting the polling station No.1 in Dich Vong Hau ward, Cau Giay district, and the NA chairwoman was reported that about 70 percent of voters in the ward performed their citizen right as by 9 am.

While inspecting the election work in Nghia Tan ward, Cau Giay District, she met voters and told them about the communication work on the law.

Voters said the dissemination of the candidates’ profiles helped them pick up the most competent representatives.

Other members of the NEC also went to localities to screen the election work, including NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty, who visited polling stations in Bac Tu Liem and Nam Tu Liem districts, Hanoi; NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, who went to Ha Nam; Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien, who toured Dong Nai and Thai Nguyen provinces.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ preliminary report, the voting in provinces and cities nationwide on May 22 was organised earnestly and safely in line with legal regulations, and the rates of voting are high.

“People exercise their right to democracy and fulfil their citizen obligations to the State and society soundly,” NEC Chairperson Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said when talking with the press on her fact-finding tour in Hanoi.

“May 22 is really a big festival,” she said.-VNA
