HCM City (VNA) - Organisations and enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City joined hands to support needy people on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.
From January 30 to February 2, Hong Bang International University (HIU) is giving more than 15,000 Tet gifts to its students. On this occasion, HIU Foundation offers 100 scholarships worth 3 million VND (123 USD ) each to students with difficult circumstances. The university has also launched its 2024 spring volunteer campaign which attracted more than 200 students who will join charity community activities.
Meanwhile, during the same period, the city’s Young Entrepreneurs Association (Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Tourism Club) and Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area coordinated with units to organise a Tet celebration for 3,000 orphans and disadvantaged children in the city.
The event with funding of 1.8 billion VND offered the children an opportunity to take part in popular activities or folk games commonly held during Vietnam’s traditional Tet festival, thus helping them understand more about the traditional cultural values. Beneficiaries will receive gifts including toys, milk, cakes, and 100,000 VND in cash.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Co-operatives (Saigon Co.op) in coordination with Unilever Vietnam, Coca-Cola Vietnam, P&G Vietnam, and Mayhome planned to organise the “Happy Bus 2024” programme offering 0 VND bus tickets to disadvantaged people.
Under the programme, 20 buses will depart from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi on February 5 (the 26th day of the last lunar month), carrying about 900 passengers to their hometowns in 35 provinces nationwide./.
