Neighborhood under Long Bien Bridge gets cleaned up

Long Bien Bridge is a historical structure and an important symbol of the capital city. However, the area under the bridge has become a garbage dumping ground for people.

Construction materials…

Domestic waste….

This gigantic refuse tip has become a familiar site for residents living on the banks of the Red River. Recently, hundreds of volunteers from the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam and the Keep Hanoi Clean organisation have teamed up to collect and classify the garbage.

Tonnes of garbage were collected and taken to actual waste dumps, restoring a clean and green environment underneath the historical bridge. Foreign friends have been showing their love for the city by joining hands to protect the environment, helping beautify Hanoi.

The programme has left a meaningful message about the importance of protecting the environment.

More and more environmental protection campaigns are being organised, calling for participation of the community. The movement is expected to spread to more people and achieve practical results./.
