Nestle inaugurates new coffee capsule production line in Vietnam

Dong Nai (VNA) - Nestlé, the world’s largest food and beverage company, inaugurated a new NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto capsule production line in the southern province of Dong Nai on July 19.

The plant is expected to process 130 million capsules from 2,500 tonnes of Vietnamese coffee per year, and the volume is expected to increase in the coming years.

Together with Nescafe instant coffee and decaffeinated coffee processed at Nestle factories in Vietnam, the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto output from Nestle Tri An factory will up the volume of Vietnamese coffee passing through Nestle production lines in the country, a great boost for the sector.

Some 90 percent of the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto output from the plant will be exported to Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan (China) and Indonesia.

According to Le Van Danh, deputy head of the Dong Nai Industrial Zone Authority, Nestle is one of the first investors in the locality, and the production of Nescafe Dolce Gusto capsules affirms the company’s efforts in increasing the value of Vietnamese coffee through production, processing and exporting.

Ganesan Ampalavanar, Managing Director of Nestlé Vietnam said: "The new NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto production line will help make great coffee widely accessible to Vietnamese consumers and to 13 export markets. Moreover, the new production line reaffirms Nestlé Vietnam's commitment to adding value to and developing this Vietnam's coffee industry."

At the event, local authorities presented a certificate of merit to the company for its contributions to the province over the years.

Swiss firm Nestle currently has six plants in Vietnam with more than 2,500 employees.-VNA
